Greetings. I run for myself, and I run as inspired action for all survivors everywhere. Healing is non-linear and my journey has taken me on a new path of running.
Running is Meditation
Running can be my quiet mind morning meditations but can also be my active meditation.
The rhythmic sound of my feet on the pavement and the focus on my breathing help me build resistance and release thoughts with each breath. As I let go of negative, debilitating “I can’t” thoughts, I focus on positive, affirming thoughts of less resistance that help me maintain my inner quiet and calm.
Running is also an active meditation. If I am not being mindful while running, I will fall off my path. This shift in mindset and dual meditation gives me the momentum to continue jogging and quiets my mind, allowing for a meditative state that sets a positive tone for the day.
I encourage you to take some time to quietly and actively think about your own meditations and what you gain from each of them to assist you in deepening your practice.
